Policies
and Restrictions
Dialup access accounts
The user shall not run any automated processes, this includes
but is not limited to: Web servers, FTP servers, telnet
servers, automated dialers (to dial the phone automatically
after disconnection for the purpose of keeping the user logged
in continuously.) Running programs to defeat the "inactivity
timers" will not be tolerated. (i.e. Checking email every X
minutes.) We have the system scan for users performing such
activities. Note: if you require one of the above services
please ask us, permission to run servers may be obtained
provided the user requests it in advance.
Unlimited
access accounts are sold on a "Single User /
Interactive use" Basis, this means that we require a live and
conscious person behind the mouse / keyboard while this
account is logged in. Please do not confuse Unlimited access
with dedicated access, we have dedicated accounts available.
Session Limits
Western Canada Internet reserves the right to impose session
limits. Sessions will be limited to 2 hours per call once the
system phone lines reach 95% usage, this is for the benefit of
all users, if you are logged out by our system, you must wait
15 minutes before logging back in. Multiple logins (2 sessions
at once) are not permitted.
General Restrictions,
Web pages, etc.
While we do not support censorship we do not support offensive
material. Put simply this means all graphics must be clothed,
and text content must be reasonable and not put out to offend.
Western Canada Internet may not be used for unlawful purposes,
including those, which constitute a criminal offence or give
rise to civil liabilities. Copyrighted material may not be
placed on Western Canada Internet's system without the
author's express permission. The user is responsible for
determining whether such material is copyrighted and its terms
of use. Users under 18 years of age shall not access material
explicitly labeled as adult, mature, or unsuitable for minors.
It is solely up to the account holder to ensure this does not
happen The use of IRC bots is governed by the server you
intend to use them on, abuse of IRC will not be tolerated.
Abuse results in ALL of Western Canada Internet's clients
being banned from the servers. Clients may not distribute
material promoting hatred against individuals or groups or any
content which may be deemed to be illegal according to the
laws of Canada. Clients are also not permitted to distribute
material promoting any form of network abuse (Such as bulk
spam mailers, sniffers, or hacking tools). The client is
responsible for all local and long-distance telephone charges
for connecting to and/or accessing the Internet.
Data transfers
All user accounts are subject to a data cap, there will be a surcharge
of $5.00 per 128meg for excessive data
transfers.
1) All Unlimited accounts have a data cap of
750 meg per month. Data
transfers over 750meg will be surcharged $5.00 per
128meg.
2) All hourly based accounts have a data cap of
500 meg per month. Data
transfers over 500meg will be surcharged $5.00 per
128meg.
Abusers will be notified
and dealt with on a one to one basis.
Hacking (Including virus and trojan infection)
Hacking (the act of attempting to gain unauthorized access to
computer systems) will not be tolerated INCLUDING any hacking done by viruses or trojan horse
programs on your computer. YOU are 100% responsible for anything your account does
while online, any reports of users
attempting to hack Western Canada Internet or other systems
will be investigated, and if substantiated the user will be
terminated without refund. In the case of a virus/trojan once your machine is clean
WCI will look over your machine to be sure the infection is gone, and charge you a computer inspection
fee (Minimum $50) for this service, before your account will be re-activated.
Email / Usenet (news)
Spam (unsolicited commercial email / usenet posting OR Bulk
mailing through our server or a link to your wci hosted domain or page in mail sent from another provider.) will not be tolerated, no
exceptions. Users found to be spamming will have their account
terminated without warning, and without refund.
A clean up fee of $500.00 will be applied to all accounts who send spam.
Email is not to be left on the server. We presently limit the
amount of mail you may receive to 10mb per mailbox, however
this does not mean you may store mass amounts of old mail on
our server, download it, read it, then delete it from the
server (you still keep your local copy)
Western Canada Internet reserves the right to delete
customer's email, which have not been read for more than one
(1) month or which have been read but not removed by the
customer for more than three (3) days, or any email that is
determined by Western Canada Internet to be causing problems
with the customers mailbox (e.g corrupt messages or LARGE
messages preventing the customer from downloading email.)
Users must use their real return address when sending email
(this way YOU get your bounced mail, not us)
Note about Email addresses You may use either
Login_ID@westerncanada.com or Login_ID@wci.ab.ca as your email
address. Both of these will work as they are actually the same
place. We have both names available as a convenience for you.
Technical
support
We will provide the customer with full service technical
support, however it is not our intention to teach the customer
how to use their computer. The customer is assumed to be
familiar with their operating system, and the basics of
operating their computer.
Refund Policy
Western Canada Internet
requires a minimum of 48 hours notice prior to the billing
date to remove the client from the auto billing software.
On termination of a 12 month Unlimited prepaid account, Western Canada
Internet will refund based on a minimum of 3 month termination
fee at our monthly rate of $19.95 per month, plus an account
setup fee of $25.00 and an early cancellation fee of $10.00
plus G.S.T. All
refunds are dependent on the amount of service provided.
Telephone technical support is considered in the amount
of any refund given.
NO refunds There are no refunds
on multi month packages. All refunds are subject to a 15%
restocking fee and must be accompanied by the original
receipt. Refunds to credit cards and debit cards require the
original card and card holder to be present in our office.
Note: If
termination of the account is a result of the client violating
Western Canada Internet policies, NO
refund will be given. If Western Canada Internet incurs any
costs with respect to your actions on the Internet, "Spamming,
Virus complaints, hack attempts, hate mail, mail bombs etc. there will be an additional charge
to compensate Western Canada Internet for any time needed to
correct the situation.
Some computer systems may require that our
technicians provide support. ie. hardware conflicts etc. This
support is be provided at our current rates.

Payment
Payment for service is required on or before the renewal date
for the following period. If payment is not received on time,
the account is automatically disabled by the system on the due
date. The account will be removed from the system after 10
days. (However if circumstances arise that you cannot meet the
payment due date, please get in touch with our office before
the due date to make other arrangements. A 48hr grace period
may be given if circumstances warrant!)
NOTE! A $25.00 Service
Fee will be charged for all NSF cheques.
Payments by
Visa, Mastercard, AMX should have sufficient funds to cover payment! Please
inform us of New, Lost or Expired Cards. Payments by cash,
cheque, or debit card must be made on or before your due date
Disclaimer
Western Canada Internet is not responsible for the accuracy or
content of the Internet, and is not liable for loss or damages
incurred by the use of that information. Western Canada
Internet reserves the right to refuse or cancel service to
anyone without reason and change restrictions without notice.
Non-enforcement of a particular policy does not mean that
Western Canada Internet condones or agrees with the action.
Western Canada
Internet makes no warranties of any kind, whether expressed or
implied, for the services it is providing. Western Canada
Internet. also disclaims any warranty of merchantability or
fitness for a particular purpose.
Western Canada Internet assumes no liability and holds itself
harmless from any liabilities or losses that may occur due to
service disruption or termination.
In the event that Western Canada Internet is found liable
in a court of law for any action or lack of action related to
any use of the internet service from your account, you agree
that our liability is limited to $100.
In the event that any portion of this Agreement is held to be
invalid or unenforceable, the invalid or unenforceable portion
shall be construed in accordance with applicable law as nearly
as possible to reflect the original intention of the parties,
and the remainder of this Agreement shall remain in full force
and effect.
Use of Western
Canada Internet services constitutes acceptance of this
